Finally....some tri training video and info

Rick's been hitting the gym pretty hard. First of all, he has taken the advice of a book or two that said middle-aged triathletes should train by TIME, not by miles. This way, the 'psycho athlete' buried deep within some men isn't allowed to go crazy and try to outdo the last training distance.

At this point, Rick is in the gym 6 days/wk.
4 days a week, he does one event (either biking or running) and 2 days a week, he does a brick (a brick is 2 events back to back).
He hasn't started swimming yet, but that's on the schedule for this week. He's a bit concerned about his buoyancy.

He is also working out with weights one time a week, but he does admit it's really hard to change his workout from a powerlifting mindset to circuit training. He feels like he's wimping out because the weights are lighter. I guess now instead of being a MAN that lifts IRON (powerlifter), he'll be an IRONMAN (triathlete) : )

Here are a couple videos of a brick that Rick did last weekend while he was home. This was the first time on the bicycle trainer that he received for his bday. It's a NICE ride!!!!

Running on the treadmill directly after getting off the bike trainer.....ouch!

Sorry I'm talking so loud, I had no idea my phone picked up the sound so well. And, as for my training....well, I have been trying to ride whenever it's sunny ( 2-3 days/wk at this point), but decided to try the trainer today. It was great and I rode for an hour.....just long enough to watch a taped program on TV.
