Updates on Exterior house painting....

Wow, what a weekend. We are exhausted. Not just from the painting, but the heat.  It's been mid 90's this entire weekend and that's unusal for these parts, so that takes alot out of a person with thick blood.

First coat went on Saturday, but not the whole house because we still had some prepping to do in the morning before painting.  We were dodging the sun and wind all day, moving to the side of the house least impacted at that particular time.

Throughout the day, I kept noticing that the paint was lighter than I thought, which was ticking me off and I was obsessing over it.
I couldn't let it go, so early Sunday morning I took the 2nd coat paint to Home Depot, where we purchased it because Behr is rated #1 in Consumer Reports, and asked them to darken it up a bit. Because it was mixed in a white base, they had already added almost as much tinting as they could without compromising the paint's drying ability.
LESSON #1 - too much tinting can diminish drying time.

Thankfully they could add a little tint so to be safe, I had them mix up a a new sample and add some brown to the sample before I had them add the tint to the 5 gallon tubs.  This color was better so I gave them the "go ahead" to add the brown to the 5 gallon paint we already purchased.

Well.....we realized that even though the same amount of tint was added to the sample AND the 5-gallon tub (percentage wise),  the 5 gallon result is lighter.  I was disappointed, but felt vindicated.
The vindication is that I am not going insane and am not too picky, but the 1st coat of color on our house was really not what I thought it would be.
LESSON #2 - samples mixed at Home Depot do NOT match the 5-gallon tubs so I'm not sure what to do about that next time.

We still have trim to do, so that's my job this week.
Here are a few pics from Saturday and Sunday.

The trim will be white, which you can see 3 feet of on the far right window
