Carbing Up
Make sure that you eat a good, high carbohydrate, low fat meal the evening before the race. Only eat food that you are used to - you don't want an upset stomach before the race. Keep well hydrated.

What is the best meal to eat the night before a long distance race?
When participating in endurance races, the couple nights before the big race, the event would usually host a "Spaghetti-Fest." Basically, it was the buffet of pasta for athletes to fill their bodies with carbohydrates. "Carbo-loading" fills your muscles with glycogen, without the depletion phase.
The 2 articles above state it clearly....CARBING UP before an endurance race is a good thing. So, I say the BEST way to CARB UP is to combine pasta AND dessert.

ReplyDeleteThey actually taste pretty good and are easy to make. Of course, they are pretty bad for you as well, so we ignore that part.
