Mother's Day Ride

Rick needed to ride for 2 hours, so we decided to ride a 15-year dream of mine....The 2 Bridge Loop.
I know, maybe I should dream bigger, but I have always wanted to to do this ride.

So for Mother's day, we rode 28.6 miles (2.75 hours) on the bike paths of both of our bridges connecting to the neighboring state.

We were finally one of 'THOSE' cyclists....the ones that ride in the center of the bridge.

It was phenomenal !!!!
(Thanks R!!!)

We rode:
- east to get to one bridge
- then rode south to cross over the 1st bridge,
- then rode west parallel to the water to get to the the 2nd bridge,
- then rode north over the 2nd bridge & all the way back home.
This is a video taken while we were in the middle of the 1st Bridge.

Once we arrived on the other side of the first bridge, we realized what a remarkable view we had and here it is......

Next we rode west (against the wind) to the 2nd bridge on a bike trail right next to the river. It was beautiful and in all these years, we had no idea this bike trail existed.

The 2nd bridge was not as fun to ride over. The bike path was about 2.5 feet wide and we could see the water through the bottom of the bridge because it was basically metal grate below us. Neither one of us really wanted to see the water that up-close and personal. Needless to say, we rode as fast as we could.
Thankfully, we took a couple pictures before we rode over the 2nd bridge.
Because we were sort of 'winging it' with regard to where the trails merge with the bridges and how far this ride was, we left the car keys with our daughter just in case we needed to be picked up.
We made it the entire way, but she did get concerned after the 2-hour mark and texted us asking, "where are you, are you dead?"
Wow, she was actually worried about us...that's a nice Mother's Day present in and of itself.

I will never forget this Mother's Day!

  1. Not able to see the videos. How does one get to be the "sender's friend"?

  2. Oh shoot. Because I have a bit of paranoia running through my veins, I set the videos as 'private' so that the whole youtube world couldn't access them.
I guess that means NOBODY can access them because even viewing them on the blog, they are still accessed through youtube. I will go back and reset the videos to 'public' so they can be viewed. Sorry about that and thanks for letting me know.
