YES, they help!
YES, I will NEED to wear them!
NO, I don't WANT to wear them!
NO, they were NOT made with a women's figure in mind!

I know I can't be the first woman that has an issue with wearing spandex at 40+, but I seem to be the only one saying it outloud at the bike store (and I have vented my woes everytime I've tried them on). The store employees find it humorous but they really can't relate because most of them are men.
First let me say that guys look pretty good in them no matter their level of fitness. R bought them before he even started riding and loves every minute he has them on. It's that higher percentage of muscle they have on their bum and thighs that prevent them from looking like a stuffed sausage.
And speaking of a stuffed sausage, if I'm going to wear a girdle type garment, it at least should be thicker material like a girdle or Spanks to strategically make me look like I'm 16 again. But NOOOOO, they are sweat-wicking material which is cutting-edge, lightweight fabric . I'd give up the sweat-wicking feature for a thigh and bum shrinking effect anyday!
Secondly, us women have been trying to "hide the pad" since we were young teenagers and now all of a sudden it's okay to have this showing from the back end......
Don't be deceived by this little picture. This pad is about 9" x 12". If you lay a 8.5 x 11 piece of paper over the pad, you can still see parts of the pad. It's the most expensive pair of Depends and Huggies I've ever seen!

I have gone into the bike store oh about 6 times now to try on the "dreaded" bike shorts. Everytime I leave with nothing.
Well, I finally had to buy them because after our 28 mile ride a couple weeks ago, I was in PAIN!!!!

I finally bought the shorts because I need them for pain management, but I am wearing a little sporty, black skirt on top of the bike shorts. It may be obvious that I'm self-conscious, but I'm staying true to the YOUNG TEENAGERS of the world and I'm going to continue to 'hide the pad'.
