Well, 'R' is already running...and biking...and almost swimming.
And, congrats to him...he lost 50lbs so he's really a flying gazelle in training.
Schedule for this year's half ironman "70.3":
For sure - Lake Stevens 70.3 in August
Tentative - Austin 70.3 in October
Pretty sure -Muddy Buddy in October (R will be competing as a team with our #2 child)
'C' on the other hand is not sure about any of them.....
I'm thinking about doing a couple duathlons (run/bike/run) this spring, so I've increased my running to 3 miles in one running session so far. This is good for me because I really do hate running. I also just biked 25 miles a couple days ago, so if the Lake Stevens bike course wasn't so hilly, I would definitely do the bike leg again. I've actually tossed around the idea of doing the bike AND running leg of the Half ironman triathlon, but that thought is still tossing and not settled down just yet.
The big dilemma is that I'd sort of like to do a full sprint distance triathlon this year, but I'm also thinking about that bathing suit. I always have those stupid "bike shorts" on my mind, so if I did the full triathlon, I would have to add "bathing suit" to my list of
"I'm 46 and going to wear THAT?".
