Out with the DREMEL...in with the Oscillating saw!

We are installing new casing that is 1"+ wider than what was there before.
We need to cut back the chair rail that butt up to the old casing because we need to install the new casing.  And of course, we don't want to take off the chair rail to do this.
Rick thought a dremel was the tool he needed.  I have a dremel packed somewhere that I used to sand my sweet Lexi dog's nails, but I can't find it so he went out and bought another one....
a dremel on steroids!

Rick began cutting and the blade didn't really cut the wood, it burned the wood.
The entire house smelled like wood shop, which is not a bad thing, but I wasn't thinking this was the right tool for two reasons:
1) it smelled like woodshop
2) it wasn't cutting very well

After burning through one blade, I went to Home Depot to get another and AFTER buying a pkg of 10 more blades (that's all they sold), I found out that the blade we were using (and what I bought) was for cutting metal nails, not wood.  We needed to get a wood cutting blade with little teeth on them. Problem is that Home Depot and Lowes does not carry the saw blades.
We needed to order one online and we wanted to finish this project this weekend, so that wasn't going to work.

Rick continued to use the wrong blade and basically, I have ALOT of patching to do.

So, today I to go to Lowes for another reason and decided to ask the tool guy about our dilemma.
He said the dremel was NOT the right tool for this job.  The chair rail is too thick and there would be no way to cut a clean cut.  He suggested an oscillating saw....another $79.00 tool.
We have two more cuts to make on chair rail tomorrow, so I bought it.
Brought it home and told Rick about it....he said, "I have that tool".  I said, "where?".
He said, "I have no idea...it's packed in a box in the garage".
Yeah...probably right next to the dremel.
