Yikes...I'm in trouble.
At the race briefing I found out that cyclists need to stay to the right of the road and definitely cannot not go across the yellow line in the center of the road. Also, the bike course is not closed to traffic as I was previously told when I called the organization putting on the event.
I AM NOT HAPPY and am more nervous than ever because I have not been able to go straight up all the hills EVER. I do the zig-zag thing to give me a break while going up a steep hill. It's slower than going straight up, but it saves my heart rate from absolutely soaring. Now that I can't do the zig-zagging, I might have to actually get off the bike and walk.
How humiliating is that?
If you pray....please pray that I finish in enough time for the runner to run her 13 miles after me. I guess it really shouldn't matter if I have to walk up a hill if I still finish in 4-4 1/2 hours.
R's hoping to average 16 mph on the bike course and is nervous about the swim. It looks like a very LONG way when it's marked by buoys in the water.
I think we are both freaking out!

You guys are my heroes!! I hope you have a great experience. I think you will be so proud of yourselves after you do this. Good luck on those hills, Chris. I know you can do it!! --- Julie
